Fifth Lowest
Nebraska's average electric rates are fifth lowest in the nation, but they could increase if climate change legislation requires a cap and trade, renewable portfolio standard, carbon tax, or all three.
Did you know that electric rates are expected to increase in 2010 for NPPD's wholesale and retail customers? The increase is due to reduced load from businesses affected by the economic recession, mild weather that impacted energy sales, and NPPD's limited ability to sell excess power out of state.
