There are things you can do right now to help keep electric rates affordable.

• Unplug. 75% of the electricity used by home electronics is consumed while appliances are turned off.


• Conserve. Turn off the TV when leaving a room, power down the computer, and shut off lights to reduce your energy consumption and save money on your utility bill.


• Be EnergyWise. Learn how to calculate your energy savings. Replace an incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb and use about 75% less energy. Install a high efficiency heat pump with a low interest rate loan from the Nebraska Energy Office.


• Live the 3 R's. Reduce your use of energy by buying only what you need. Reuse products when you can. Make recycling a priority.
